The Denver Baker neighborhood is generally defined by West 6th Ave. to its north side, Broadway St. to it’s east side, and then West Mississippi Avenue to its south. The final border is the the South Platte River that runs along the western edge of Baker. The neighborhood has almost a thirty block portion of a historic district! In 1859 William and Elizabeth Byers homesteaded a large portion of the area along the river. This was just north of where former Slave James Buckwourth settled in the same year. Furthermore, this neighborhood hosts hundreds of gorgeous buildings and Brick houses for sale by famous local architect, William Lang. The neighborhood was 80% developed by 1900.The City of Denver named the Baker neighborhood after what was then Baker Junior High School back in the 1970’s. You can find the school renamed and revamped as the Denver Center for International Studies.

Now multiple bus lines and two RTD(Light Rail) stops serve this area. One is at I-25 and Broadway and one is in Alameda. You will find homes for sale near public transportation in Baker. It was not until the year 2000 that the Baker historic district Denver is given official designation as ‘The Baker Historic District‘. There are many architectural styles of Houses for sale in Baker. Some of the more popular homes are the Queen Ann style with a transition into a Shingle style where you find more symmetry than the traditional Victorian homes for sale.
